Making the decision to move to a new place whether permanently or temporarily due to job placement, school or business is not an easy one. It can be very overwhelming if not planned properly. Having a plan and carefully executing your move will make this process easeful. Hence, why I decided to share a few tips for a hassle-free move.

These are five key factors to consider when moving to make the transition hassle-free.

1. Find a suitable location that fits your lifestyle

Proximity to public transportation is very crucial for persons who rely on the public commute. They say time is money, and it is so precious, so you should definitely consider closeness to work, business or school in order to enjoy the extra time you save by transporting to and from your daily route. Families that are moving may want to consider living near a good school district and a community that is family orientated.

If you are a social butterfly being near cool restaurants, clubs and other entertainment stops to meet new people or to enjoy with friends is a must-have. We all know searching for the ideal location can be stressful.

CORT can help you select furniture for your new destination. They drop it off when you are ready and pick it up when you are finished. How easy is that! They have an expert team that will guide you and you can trust CORT to save you time. Why do it on your own when you can have someone do it for you?

  2. Deciding what to keep and what to leave behind

We all have some form of sentimental attachment to things but sometimes we have to decide is it worth keeping especially when it is a large item that will take up space. Believe me, you don’t want to spend money on hauling items you will eventually get rid of. Use this opportunity to sort through every item you own to make a pile of keepsakes, garbage and donations. You can donate the items that you don’t need and that can be used by someone else. Check your local Goodwill or Salvation Army.

If you are moving temporarily you may consider renting pieces of furniture for your space. Especially, if you’re moving from a different state which can be very expensive. CORT offers a wide range of furniture rental packages that suit every budget, there are also options to buy clearance items that are high-end in-demand pieces.

3. Organize your space

So, you finally moved into your new space and it’s now time to make it your haven. You must first consider the size of your space. If it’s a small apartment or dorm then storage and placement are the first things to consider. After mapping out how things will be placed then you can go ahead with selecting the right pieces that go well with your sense of style.

Storage bins and shelves are a great way to squeeze in some extra storage. If storage is a real issue try to choose furniture that comes with extra storage like storage beds.

save money while moving

  4. Familiarize yourself with new surroundings

Moving into an area that you are not acquainted with makes you feel like a lost tourist at times. You can map out the route where you will normally travel to on a daily basis using Google Maps or any other online navigation app so you can get an idea of the different route you can take. If you commute by public transportation, ensure to get the bus or train schedule in advance before venturing out so it saves you time. Ensure that you always have service on your phone in case you get lost.

I hope you find these tips useful when considering to move to a new place!. You can check out the CORT Blog for more tips and tricks for your next move.

It brings me such sadness to let you all know that It brings me such sadness to let you all know that our dearly beloved Marley has left us. I tried so hard to hold back tears as I come to grips that she has departed. They say a Dog is mans best friend and surely Marley was more than just a Dog and a “best friend” she was one of us, she was FAMILY.

If you watched my recipe videos on my stories while I was home in Jamaica you would on most occasion hear Marley barking in the background. My Marley was always there ready to sample every and anything I made.

We love you Marley 💜❤️🧡💛💚💙
My version of a Miso Ramen with Chashu Pork. I lov My version of a Miso Ramen with Chashu Pork. I loved it and loved making it.

Food for me is more than what meets the eye and fills the stomach. Food is not just nutrition but for me it's LOVE it’s FAMILY it's LAUGHTER it's JOY and TOGETHERNESS. It is amazing how food can conquer by bringing the farthest of people close, and bring “HOPE” for many people across the world. it's an “INSPIRATION” that brings comfort to some to live another day.

Without integration and fusion I would have never experience and love Curry the way I do, thanks to our Indian ancestors. I would have never imagine the world of Jerk if it wasn’t for our Amerindian ancestors and I would have never understood the purpose of Soy Sauce in dishes if it wasn’t for my Chinese ancestors.

So lately, when I see “recipe shaming” as how I would like to put it. It brings the question? Are we not allowed to show love and adoration for our brothers and sisters across borders without the thought of exploitation, race snd appropriation? When did food become such a sensitive topic?
